At Sofitel Fij Spa and Resort , Denarau Island, there were also free lessons on weaving using palm leaves. The native Fijians who are always jolly are so patient with us foreigners! They taught us to weave the palm leaves to make baskets and even hats!

GO ON A TALL SHIP CRUISE

Captains Cook's Tall Ship Cruise was one of the best cruises we've ever taken. It was just a whole day's out at sea but was fantastic!We booked it through the tourist desk at our hotel.

We sailed the calm waters of Fiji's Viti Levu Island going to Mystery Island and while cruising, we had nice tucker for morning tea prepared on board. Also we were treated to a kava ceremony, which is the native Fijian way of welcoming guests. We each had a turn of tasting the kava which is supposed to be potent like wine. I only had a little bit so I didn't think it was so strong at all!

We had lunch at the island of Tivua which was fabulous (both food and the island)! There were heaps of delicious big fishes, salads of all sorts, bread rolls, etc. Dessert was also lovely with fresh fruits!

There was plenty of time to snorkel (gear supplied and included in the tariff) the clear waters of the island which seemed to be just reserved for us! There were no crowds, just the singing happy staff whose main goal was to keep us all entertained!

We also rode on a glass-bottomed boat to enjoy the rich bounty of the oceans around the island- colourful corals, etc.

It was a fun-filled and relaxing experience! I highly recommend this cruise!
