"AREA OF DEEP GREEN FOREST and BEAUTY" East Kalimantan Province by AusPinay

As part of our "Environment Journalism Workshop" sponsored by the UN and Antara NEws Agency of Indonesia, we rode on a helicopter owned by the richest man in that country which took us to its reforestation project deep in East Kalimantan.

Hence, I cannot tell you exactly the location but it is a logging area and they have ongoing projects to reforest once they cut down the trees. I just hope it is still happening in Indonesia as I heard about the various floods and mudflows happening there in recent years!

It wa also m y first ride on a huge helicopter which could carry around 8 of us! I was terrifed but we were assured it was safe! We had to wear ear muffs!

• Pros:lots of natural evergreen forest
• Cons:a bit isolated, only accessible by helicopter
• In a nutshell:EAST KALIMANTAN was a joyful place, I will go back in a heartbeat but not on a helicopter!
