New Zealand's South Island was reputedly the most beautiful place on earth, according to one NZ site. I agree totally!
Everywhere we go, beauty was on every nook and cranny, every mountain, animal and plant life, the verdant fields, museums, rivers, lakes, etc.. I will run out of superlatives so just go and see for yourselves.
Add the friendly faces, the safe and secured roads, establishments, etc.. You will never go wrong planning a trip from Christchurch to Queenstown where my family and I drove to see the splendid landscape we read about or saw in travel programs!
One very memorable place I shall always think of very fondly is LAKE TEKAPO (more photos at my Lake Tekapo tip page). The peace and tranquility, exquisite beauty of the place is quite magical!
Of course, we stayed a few nights in several motels and hotels and we were not disappointed- they were clean, self-contained as I requested and usually with proper baths and beddings all comfy, most with extra pillows and blankets.
The only thing you have to prepare for is the COLD WEATHER!
- Pros:safe roads, friendly people, clean places
- Cons:extremely cold weather, slipper roads on snowy mountains of course
- In a nutshell:SOUTH ISLAND of NZ is truly a tourist paradise!
