On the road to Tagaytay

Tagaytay City is one of my all-time fave destinations wherever we're visiting my relatives in my homeland Philippines. It is is about 60 km / 37 miles south of Manila in the mountains of Cavite Province or just an hour's drive by car. It is also just about 30 minutes from my family's residence in Sta. Rosa via the expressway. No wonder many tourists, both local and foreign trek to this place throughout the year.

We were there just after Christmas! There are crowds for sure but there are numerous sites to go to avoid them anyway! Instead of going to Baguio, locals come here for a quick or short escape from Manila's chaos!

Indeed, whatever the season you can find wildflowers and pine trees lining the paved ,though sometimes potholed winding roads. Nature is truly at its best at Tagaytay.

There are also lovely views of the Taal Volcano nestled in Taal Lake, and orchards of fresh home grown fruits, all just within reach of modern convenient facilities specially the ever popular picnic areas which are available to the public at a small fee.

• Pros:cool weather almost thoughout the year, friendly locals, cheap food/dining
• Cons:traffic on peak hours, can be foggy/polluted at other times of the year
• In a nutshell:If you want to escape the chaos of Manila, come and see Tagaytay but pick off season to go there to avoid crowds!
