SKIPTON

Skipton is a market town who's name derives from the anglo saxon word for "sheep town" .it is in North Yorkshire just outside the yorkshire dales national park.
The town was settled by sheep farmers in the 7th century.Ssheep feature largly in the day to day life of the town.
The town was granted a market charter by king john in 1204.
