Bergamo is an beautiful historic town 40 km north east of Milan. It stands at the foot of the Italian alps. It is in the region of Lombardy of which the capital is Milan.
The town consists of two parts. Citta Alta is the higher and oldest part of the town and Citta Bassa is the lower and more modern part.

The funicular is a fun and cheap way to travel between Citta Alta and Citta Alta. I'm not sure how much it costs to use... more travel advice
