OLYMPIC TORCH IN LEEDS
24th - 25th June
Sunday 24th June The torch will be carried through the streets of Headingley, Harehills and Richmond Hill. The flame will be carried by local people.

China, Russia dive team, Canada, Australian dive team and Netherland Olympic teams are having thier pre-training camps in Leeds.

The theme of this years parade will be "SPORTS" to coincide with the Olympics.

11.30-2.00pm - Victoria Gardens, The Headrow, Leeds (Victoria Gardens is located in front of the City Art Gallery and Henry Moore Sculpture Gallery on the Headrow)

2.00pm - The parade will leave Victoria Gardens and head down The Headrow, turning right onto Boar Lane and down into Call Lane

3pm-9pm The Main Stage
This year the main stage will be in Lower Briggate and will start an hour earlier. This stage will host both local and national acts. More details on these acts will be released closer to the time.

A CITIZEN OF LEEDS IS KNOWN AS A LOINER WHICH IS A WORD DERIVED FROM LOIN OR ROLL OF CLOTH.

Most people would not think of visiting Leeds as a tourist, but this is a great city. We have designer shops Luis Vuitton, Vivienne Westwood and Harvey Nichols. And of course, Leeds is the birthplace of Marks and Spencer’s. there is also a massive indoor and outdoor market.
There are many café’s and restaurants and because of our fantastic university plenty of bars and nightclubs.
Each year we have the Leeds festival, which is one of the top three festivals in the country with headliners such as the Artic Monkeys, Razor Light, Muse and Red-Hot Chilli Peppers.
Regular gigs by homegrown bands such as the Kaiser Chiefs and the Pigeon Detectives also take place in the city.
We have many museums including the Royal Armouries, which is linked to the Tower of London.
Temple Newsam, Abbey House and Thackeray Medical Museum are within easy reach of the city centre with Harewood House and Lotherton Hall on the outskirts.

Hi! Yes it's possible, but a tight squeeze for those doing walk and Palace- some have opted to do it between walk and Palace - personally, I'd prefer to eat and rest in between!
The tower is open daily, but Friday is being left for just VTers.
See that You're not coming to first timers meet now, hope you're not planning on blitzing Grom instead!

We visited Tirana last year on the way to Macedonia with Durres as a day trip and the year before we were in Shkoder which had a new tourist office. But the one in Tirana was closed the whole time we were there. It's the only country I encountered in Europe which hasn't got proper bus terminals. Most people were very friendly.
