"Gaudi's Barcelona" Barcelona by lifeisatrip

Antoni Gaudi, Spanish architect who was way ahead of his time and gave Barcelona boasting rights to a number of his works.

The Sagrada Familia (pictured) was started in 1882. Gaudi took over the following year. It is a work in progress, Gaudi not being able to finish it when he died in 1926. I personally think it was his masterpiece. One has to experience the church to even understand how Gaudi's mind worked; a genius of all times.

Casa Batllo is another excellent expression of his mastery in Art Nouveau, and so is Casa Mila or La Pedrera. Parc Guell is another. One will not tire in looking at his creations.

A fruit stall in Boqueria

Fresh produce, seafood, meats, sausages, fruit drinks, cheeses, etc can be found in the market. Although it can get really crowded, this place was titillating to the senses.

Montjuic Castle

Barcelona has transformed an area of Montjuic into an Olympic Park for the 1992 Summer Olympics.
