At the dawn of history, the Yoldian sea covered the area where Tampere lies today. As the Ice Age swept across the region, it produced the highest eskar in the world: Pyynikki. Two beautiful lakes decorated with charming little islands remained on the both sides of the ridge, and these lakes, Pyhäjärvi and Näsijärvi, were connected by the widly surging Tammerkoski Rapids....
Don't forget to see my "Tampere from the top" travelogue. All the pictures were taken while flying on a small plane over Tampere in September 2000.
