"Bailey Lodge" Bailey by photonpharmer

Bailey Lodge is the main accommodation within what was formerly known as Moore Dale Ranch Resort. It is one of a very few available lodgings along Colorado highway 285, a main transportation artery heading into the southern part of Colorado.
At approximately 50 miles from downtown Denver via 285 the town of Bailey sits squarely along the North Fork of the South Platte River, a lovely watershed that flows through Platte Canyon. Arguably, Bailey Lodge sits amidst one of the prettiest parts of the end-to-end drive along this scenic highway corridor.
What I like about this place is its central proximity to Pike National Forest (it's right on the edge) and dozens of other public mountain recreation areas. That alone makes it a great jumping-off "base camp" for short hops to various places to X-C ski, snowshoe, mountain bike, fly fish, photograph, watch wildlife and so on ad infinitum. The huge rooms with fireplace make it a nice romantic retreat as well as a great place to bring the family.
Since I like to cook, having housekeeping facilities available in the rooms is a big plus too.
- Pros:Accessible year-round. Affordable. Spacious two room suites, each with housekeeping facilities. Pets welcome. River fishing on the property. Heated swimming pool. Picnic area. Free high speed wireless Internet connection
- Cons:No on-site restaurant

Kate, the manager is first class! She was able to find us a room with one day's notice in September--a very busy month for lodges in the area. She couldn't have done anything more to accommodate us--but was definitely "low profile" and not intrusive in any way. We had a very comfortable, rustic but modernized "suite" with two rooms with very comfortable beds, plenty of space for using and storing stuff--we were very comfortable. I hated to leave after only one night but we had plans for the next day elsewhere. True, there is no on-site restaurant, but several good ones just a short drive down the road. We really enjoyed the burgers and homemade chips at Rustic Station, where service was also excellent!
