The One Hotel Angkor: The Only One for Us

After staying the previous 2 nights with another luxury hotel, we had planned to move to The One Hotel for our final two nights in Cambodia. During checkout, we asked the hotel staff to hold our bags until our return from a day of touring the temples. Towards the end of the day, we were pleasantly surprised to receive a call informing us that the staff at The One Hotel had gathered our belongings and transferred them for us. This is the level of service that every guest will come to expect during their stay at The One.

Upon our arrival, we were greeted by Martin, the owner, who casually chatted with us about our journeys. After signing in, we were given a mobile phone with numbers for Martin and his staff. We were impressed with how accessible Martin made himself during our entire stay. That evening, Martin invited us to join him and his friends at Linga, his bar across the street. We enjoyed entertaining conversation, excellent mojitos, and an amazing pork rib appetizer late into the evening.

The room at The One (there is only one room, hence the name) has an urban feel with a large king-size bed in the center, a seating area with flat screen TV, and a separate waterfall shower and two-person bath tub. Above, the private rooftop terrace includes a jacuzzi, a large day bed, and a small dining area.

A staff member was available on site at all times, and they were always excited to meet our request. When we made a late-afternoon decision to take a tour of some remote temples, they arranged a driver and guide for us the next morning. Despite the short notice, the guide was the best we experienced during our vacation. And when we asked for a particular breakfast item, a staff member ran to the market to purchase the item and returned before we knew any different. And when we asked about where to buy a particular souvenir, the hotel manager escorted us to the market and then carried our items while we shopped. Fantastic!

In summary, if you want to enjoy your stay in Siem Reap, The One Hotel is your only choice!
