I used to live downunder back in 1997. Actually only six months but still it was a great experience. I met a whole bunch of great Aussies and I also adopted the great mentality of 'no worries'. In 2004 I got the chance to go there again. Of cource, I also went to Melbourne. Melbourne is one of the favourite citys of mine. It is so lively. There is plenty to see and experience. People are nice and weather is great. |
| | Aussies are sport crazy people and Melbourne is also a great place for sport fan. The Olympics were held in Melbourne back in 1956. That was a big deal for the city. Now it's draw between two rivaling Australian citys when Sydney held its own Olympics in 2000. Perhaps two most important sport events in Melbourne are Formula One GP and Australian tennis open. You can also follow basketball, soccer and, of cource, cricket and footie in Melbourne. Cricket was totally unfamiliar to me before my first trip to Australia. Now I love to watch cricket. Even test cricket! Footie - what a game. You can`t help yourself to fall in love with that game and everything around it. Go to games, watch tv-shows, read all in newspapers. It`s something like football in Europe but still in a unique way. |

birchy99 Tue Feb 22, 2005 18:13 UTC Glad you enjoyed the Sanctuary. My favorites were the little birds whose calls sound like tinkiling bells. Definitely a highlight of my trip. |
