"NEW ZEALAND'S MOST BEAUTIFUL SMALL TOWN"
I think this may have been my favorite town in the Bay of Plenty.
This small, well kept town, was put on the tourist map in 1991, when the
first Mural was painted.
Now they are everywhere. We thoroughly enjoyed spending quite a bit
of time here having a look around.
The town in situated on the edge of the Uretara River and there is a
walkway that takes you past farmland and private gardens
It starts at the Tavern and finishes at Park Road Reserve.
For more information on Katikati the website is: www.katikati.co.nz
It tells you about "ORCAS' that you can see, we didn't know about it when
we were there, wished we had.

Interesting page! This large Kiwi looks funny.
Excellent Bay of Plenty page Dee! I enjoy your travels so much. Thanks for sharing!
Like the eccentric local art here. Murals are a real help in making otherwise very boring buildings much more palatable. "SODO Murals / SODO Urban Art Corridor" - Seattle Off The Beaten Path Tip by glabah for example.
We stopped here in '84. It wasn't much then, but I don't remember paying much either...Sad to hear it hasn't improved. And while it is no Yellowstone I was interested since it is one of the few other places on earth remotely similar.
Thanks for the support. I was not as lucky, a "Maori village" that I ran into was closed for the low season.
If you had been to Yellowstone why bother going to Rotorua?
