St Veit an der Glan was the seat of the dukes of Carinthia from 1170 until 1518.

Flowers were beautiful in this Town, and I know why.

In 1999, St. Veit was awarded the “Entente Florale” silver medal in Augsburg, as the second most beautiful flower town in Europe.

The town is completely encircled by the old town walls.

Tomorrow, we are going to visit MARIA WORTH

Nice that they have a statue of Walther von der Vogelweide in the Town Square. As a student I tried to read some of his writings, but didn’t get very far because he wrote in Middle High German. (He lived around the year 1200 or so.)

  Middle High German was what they spoke and wrote in the 12th and 13th centuries, sort of like Chaucer's English but a century earlier.
