..............MERANO.............
This City was a favorite of mine.
I could have easily stayed here longer!
WHY..........
I loved walking in Merano, in fact, the city is made for walker's.....
I loved the beautiful architecture of the building's..........
I loved the beautiful garden's that were everywhere.......
I loved the scenery in this area, it was stunning............
I loved our B&B, and didn't want to leave.....................
I guess you could say.....
I FELL IN LOVE WITH MERANO!
You might ask yourself how it is possible that a well-known alpine ski resort could be called "City of Flowers."
Merano is completely surrounded by snowy peaks
that can reach altitudes of 10,000 feet
...BUT...
the city itself sits in a lush, fertile valley only 1,000 feet high.
What more could you want than...........
Clean air, friendly local's, great food and wine, Streets free of cars, lawns and garden's brimming with colorful Mediterranean flowers and exotic trees?
Nothing !
If you have a car, and would like a beautiful scenic round route back to Merano, perhaps staying overnight somewhere, then follow some of my tips.

It's lovely to read of your enthusiasm for this pretty town! Your pension looks like a real find and I loved my tour of the beautiful gardens :-)
Thanks Sarah. There wasn't much written on VT about Merano, but what I read made the town sound ok. Well, for us, it surpassed our expectations, I really would have liked longer here and in the area. Those gardens, wow! Be great to see them in full colour, even so, they were good!
Thanks for a great virtual tour. As always your photos were super:)
I never got this far, I was staying in Kastelruth/Castelrotto a few km away. I ended up hiking and had a great time. But I have to agree this area is so easy to fall in love with:)
Thanks for the virtual tour of the Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle. They do indeed look impressive – and very large. Good that they keep the poisonous plants labelled in the Forbidden Garden. The modernistic viewing platform at viewpoint 2 does look a bit daunting, but I think it would be worth climbing up to see the view from the top.
Oh wow, you came at the best time! I remember Merano being the flower city and it seems it is still :-) Lovely gardens and I also like the viewpont with the stairs :-) The door of the castle's chapel is absolutely stunning!!! And I also like the windows of St. Joseph church, they seem to be a tribute to flower town :-)
