"EVIAN-LES-BAINS ON THE FRENCH SIDE OF LAKE GENEVA" Top 5 Page for this destination Évian-les-Bains by balhannah

Évian-les-Bains Travel Guide: 40 reviews and 109 photos

Evian les Bains is a lovely town which sits on the edge of Lake Leman.

Evian won the award for the best resort in France in the 2011 World Travel Awards.

Evian is a beautiful town which took off with the discovery of its famous mineral water.

With its position on the edge of Lac Leman - the biggest lake in Europe, and its nearness to the mountains and some fabulous buildings from early 19th century when baths were all the rage in Europe, Evian now is now a beautiful Town to visit.

The tourist office has a useful map with a walking route of the town which takes in the key buildings.

The Villa Lumiere and Palais Lumiere are fabulous. So is the page!

It's interesting to see that the Lumieres come from what seems to have been quite a wealthy family, if they lived in that lovely building!

But now my trip with you through France is over :-( Never mind - it seems there is Switzerland to look forward to!

I never knew the Lumière family used to have a summer residence in Évian-les-Bains. I have been to the Lumière villa and museum in Lyon and found it fascinating.

Oh interesting! So this is where the "other" French water comes from. And I see that they have longbow shooting range at Castle Ripaille. Haha, had to laugh and wonder about the name of the park: Neckargemund! Wondering who from close to Heidelberg lived in Evian.
