A popular destination for Brisbaner's

Bribie Island, a 34km sand island, is located in the north-western area of Moreton Bay.
From the mainland cross over the tranquil waters of the Pumicestone Passage.
Bribie has quite a few retiree's living there, and who could blame them, I wouldn't mind retiring there either!
Major areas are Bellara (where the majority of shops are),as well as Bongaree and Woorim.

The island is a popular destination for a daytrip from Brisbane and for longer holidays.

We have our own Caravan, so stay at the waterfront, Bongaree Caravan Park.
There is a huge variety of accommodation from holiday units, motels, b&bs, guesthouses, tourist parks and camping areas to choose from, book during holiday times.

A WATERSPORTS MECCA

The Pumicestone Passage is a great spot for windsurfing, sailing and boating. Usually the waters are quiet, as they are protected from the stronger winds.

Bribie Island is a great spot for marine animal viewing, cycling, scuba diving, has safe family swimming and surf beaches.

Fort Bribie lies at the northern tip of Bribie Island, about 25km along the beach from Woorim. It was constructed at the outbreak of World War 2 as a part of the defence of Moreton Bay

The Pumicestone National Park has all the conveniences for picnickers and overnight campers at Mission Point which is located on a white sandy beach

Sandstone Point – Spinnaker Sound Marina - The marina has a boat ramp, and boat and jet ski hire

BEACHES

•Woorim Ocean Beach for.......... Surfing, swimming and fishing.

Woorim is patrolled by Bribie Island Surf Life Saving Club. The beach has wheelchair access. 4WD access to beach but a permit is required.
Watch for dolphins

•White Patch - Safe swimming, fishing, walking, BBQ and sheltered picnic area.
Dogs permitted on a leash

•Sylvan Beach - The beach provides safe swimming, a boat ramp, and good fishing.

•Red Beach - Great Fishing and scenic walking tracks.

Bribie is one of my favorites, it may be one of yours if you pay it a visit!

This is a very enjoyable little page! The beach area at Bongaree looks like a real "keeper" and I also enjoyed viewing those kangaroos that were brave enough to ignore your nearby presence. Gorgeous flower photos at the Bribie Island Orchid Show - well done!

Dee, lovely little page here. Pineapples for 10 Cents sounds indeed like quite a good deal. Oh and strawberries aren't too bad either.

It's a very good deal and they are really sweet, as they come picked ripe direct from the farm. It's a lovely island where Brisbanites love to come for the weekend or a holiday.
