CROWS NEST

Crows Nest..................And immediately if you are not aware that this is the name of a town, you would be thinking of a Bird called and Crow, and his nest!!!

Well, Crows Nest is a small Australian rural town in Queensland, named after an Aboriginal, "Jimmy Crow."

The Town

The Town is built around a "village green," a pleasant area for locals and visitor's alike.

If you enjoy Antiques, then a visit here is a must, as Salt's large antique store is located here.

The area

The surrounding area is rural, so you will see beef & dairy cattle, plus Horse's.

We enjoy visiting the Crows Nest National Park, have been here on many occasions.
It is located only 6kms from the Town, just follow the Brown Tourist sign.

If you wish to stay, then there is accommodation at an excellent Caravan Park, a Motel, and at the National park for campers & hikers.

Crows Nest is located 179 km north-west of Brisbane, 45 km from Toowoomba, on the range, so it is a cooler climate.

Hi Dee, nice insight to small townships and nearby National Parks. We visited many on our recent Queensland holiday and all waterfalls were below their best as we visited during the Dry Season.

How uniquely Australian: named after someone who lived in a hollow tree!

I wonder if it has had its share of water lately? Strange to find good looking cuckcoo clocks out that way-but guess some German immigrants came to the region. It is a fabulous looking area, and your pic/comments are great.

This looks like a great place for hiking and scrambling. Funny that they have a whole store in Crows Nest, Queensland, selling genuine German cuckoo clocks from the Black Forest.
