"DEVONPORT ON THE MERSEY RIVER" Devonport by balhannah
Devonport Travel Guide: 33 reviews and 66 photos
Devonport is quite often the 1st city that visitors arriving in Tasmania see.
Located on the banks of the Mersey River, it is the centre of Tasmania’s fertile Mersey/Forth valley.
Known as "Australia’s market garden" the area produces 40% of
Tasmania's vegetable crop, so you will see crops of onions, potatoes,
peas, carrots and beans, Orchards, and fields of Poppies & Pyrethrum
Daisies which happened to be in flower when we were there this time.
It is the Tasmanian home port of Spirit of Tasmania I & II sailing from Melbourne.
Devonport has nice foreshore parklands to Mersey Bluff Beach, and on to
the Bluff itself and its landmark lighthouse and lookout.

Wow, Dee, this page is wonderful, I loved it all, it is so diverse, fantastic photos and tips :D
Mmm, quite a few things there that I've missed. Have to get my finger out in October when I'm back in Tassie. Thanks for sharing.
You saw a lot more than we did. Your pages have brought back some nice memories.
Breathtaking beauty via your photographs. Loved the Mural Walk, lighthouse, caves, waterfalls, and the beach.
Good coverage of the area! OH YES, I know Sir John B.P., et al!! funny! my trip to Tassie was one of my first, in 1970, so I don't remember much.
