Mudgee Travel Guide: 19 reviews and 46 photos
White Man reached Mudgee in 1821, and in 1822 it was settled. On walking Mudgee streets, you will notice that there are a lot of old buildings and very wide streets.
Mudgee has a population of approx 9,000 people, and is the largest town in the Mid West of New south wales.
The National Trust describes Mudgee as ..................
"ONE OF THE FINEST GROUPS OF TOWNSCAPE IN A COUNTRY AREA"
Mudgee, and you should not get bored, for here you can vist Wineries and Cellar doors, taste Honey, visit Museums, go bushwalking and Bird watching, go Horse riding and Gold panning, visit Galleries, Antique shops, buy something special at the local Markets, visit a miniature Railway, or star gaze at an Observatory................you see, there is plenty for everyone.

Lovely page Dee. It brings back many memories of our stay in Mudgee in 2010...we still consider it one of the friendliest towns we stayed in during our time in Australia...and the wine wasn't bad either ;) Thanks for sharing
Brian
Beautiful scenery and wine region :-) Love the idea of how to raise money for breast cancer research :-)
Again I had to look at the map to see where this is. A very nice-looking town and region!
I really enjoyed that scenic drive with you Dee. Rylstone looks lovely, and I like the look of Gulgong too (and the name!)
The Havilah church looks so ornate and a feel of old English. There certainly are very nice sites here
a lovely virtual tour of a beautiful, unspoiled area; as always, so well written.
Such an interesting off-the-beaten-path route. That's tourist information at its best, giving local information, not just handing out some leaflets.
Such a lovely area with so many historic buildings! Your tips are full of interesting details from the history of the towns. The post office with the bell tower is so charming!
