This is the Village where we elected to stay at the end of our 1st day of travelling around France.
We found out that there are two names, Petit Andely, where there are a lot of half timbered houses from the 15th - 18th centuries, narrow streets, shops, a lovely old part of this town.
The other is called Grand Andely, and this is where we found the huge Collegiate Church.
The Town itself is called Les Andelys.
Chateau Gaillard is a short drive or walk away, and was a very nice site to visit.
Les Andelys is situated on a sharp corner of the river Seine in the Upper Normandy region of northern France, 30 km northeast of Evreux.

It looks like something from the Sound of Music! The beautiful Collegiate Church is gorgeous! Nice page!
Nice hotel and nice town, beautiful pics!
A beautiful little town! I love your photos of the view from Chateau Gaillard and the views of the riverside walk.
I love the setting of this town, right by the river! The ruined castle is wonderful too and your hotel sounds good
Oh, more troglodyte dwellings! Marvellous views of the Seine river from the old castle. What a cute accommodation you had!
I wish we had had time for the little villages. So much to see and so little time.
Dee, Nice page about one of the first towns I visited in France - nearly got blown away by howling wind on that riverside walk!. What a very nice looking hotel you found - noted for a future visit :)
