"BEAUTIFUL VILLAGE OF MONTIGNAC" Montignac by balhannah
Montignac Travel Guide: 11 reviews and 39 photos
Our main reason for coming to Montignac, was to see the famous Lascaux Caves.
We went and saw them, and they were fantastic!
Montignac itself was old, had a great old town with its cobbled streets, and the lovely River Vezere flowing through the centre.
We spent more time here than we intended!

Nearby are some nice Castle's, Garden's and scenic towns.
Montignac would make a good base for exploring the area.
- Pros:Great old town!
- In a nutshell:Good base for seeing the area

What a charming place! You always explore such beautiful places. Excellent page!
Thanks for visiting some of my small French towns. In that area, they are all pretty!
Thanks for sharing images and stories about these beautiful French towns! ... Such romantic old buildings! ... Sigh! ... One day, some day!
Your time will come!
Lovely French town, esp. liked the half-timbered houses - so cute! Would love to see it some day. Are you back there now, Dee?
Have passed through France and now in Prague. At last some fine and sunny weather.
What a beautiful town, your presentation of these towns on VT is so lovely :)
Thanks Regina!
the tip about the toilets was funny. The Hautefort castle looks super, shame you didnt get to go in, you were on the way to the caves that day? amazing how much you can see in a short time
The Castle was on the other side of the river. I did see another excellent castle that was nearby. Just can't go inside all of them, even though I WANT to! If on my own, I probably would, but he other half puts his foot down!! We were on the way to the caves.
How we see a lot, is I research heaps before going and have it all on a list. There usually is too much, so we just pick out the ones we like the most. I think that saves a lot of time
Lovely pictures of the river and church Dee. Hautefort looks pretty too, though it's a shame you didn't get to see inside the chateau
Love the tip about the toilets, Dee. The little streets are wonderful also.
No wonder that this is in Aquitane. I think, it is my favorite province in France. This one looks LOVELY!! Love the tourist information building and the Place Carnot (ar there apartments for rent????) and would love to explore the crafts exhibition too :-)
Another beautiful village!
