"PRETTY MONTREUIL-BELLAY" Montreuil-Bellay by balhannah
Montreuil-Bellay Travel Guide: 13 reviews and 43 photos
The town of Montreuil-Bellay has nearly all of its medieval walls intact, making it one of the last fortified towns of the Anjou region.
I just love this type of town!
It was so pretty alongside the river, and on a nice day, there are good reflections.
We drove through the gateway which had enormously thick walls, and into the town with its flower's and historic homes.

What a lovely page, the main photo looks like something out of a fairy tale film :)
It was hard to choose which photo to use.
That opening photo of the entrance is so beautiful! Was the entire city walled and fortified? The abbey looks wonderful. Great find!
It's a gorgeous town. Yes, it was entirely walled, and most of it still remains today. Somewhere I would have liked more time. I had read it was nice so we went for a look and found we really could have spent some time here wandering around. As we hadn't allowed for that, I had to make do with the brief visit, better than nothing though and I can share with others which is good, as through my photo's another vt'er went here, and he wasn't disappointed either!
The abbey looks lovely and the chateau too - but the pastries are quite possibly the stars of this page ;-)
Very enticing, thanks for sharing
Oh my god.... yes, I want to go there and have that strawberry cake NOW! Mouthwatering indeed :-) Lovely abbey too :-) And Kate and I saw the place where Richard Lionheart was held prisoner but it was too late to get up and visit.
Beautiful pictures. You have a good eye for taking good photographs.
