I CAME TO SEE THE BASILICA!

Saint Denis is located 9.4 km from the centre of Paris and is easy to reach by public transport.

Saint-Denis is home to the royal necropolis of the Basilica of Saint Denis, nearly every French King is buried here. The last king to be interred in Saint-Denis was Louis XVIII. After France became a republic and an empire, Saint-Denis lost its association with royalty..
Saint Denis was the first Bishop of Paris and patron saint of France. He was martyred in about 250 and buried in the cemetery of Catolacus, where St. Denis the suburb stands today
The Basilica I visited, was consecrated in 1144, and is known as the first example of Gothic Architecture.

Saint Denis is home to France's national stadium, the Stade de France, built for the 1998 FIFA World Cup.

I have written information on the Tombs for my memory, much easier than going to my book on ST. Denis.

I found them very interesting, perhaps you will find the facts interesting too!

Easy to reach if you decided to go!!

A MUST VISIT IF YOU CAN!
