This is amazing, what a trip this must have been for you, every day something amazing like the cliffs and the caves. I would not have been brave enough to have a look at the torture tools.

How interesting to see these cave dwellings! In their present state they look similar to the ones we visited in New Mexico (Glia Cliffs) but the brochure sketch shows that they would probably have looked quite different and far more European. Thanks for including that :-)
The D66 looks a great road to drive along, and the Maison Forte De Reignac looks so fascinating. What a great area to visit!

Yep, Dordogne is not as famous as the Loire Valley, but there are almost as many fortresses, castles, chateaux. . . . I toured the Vezere Valley as a student, and I am glad you found it nice too.

Oh wow, this is something for me! La Roque Saint - Christophe and Maison Forte De Reignac are so similar like the hermitages I love in Italy and wherever. Fantastic! They knew what they did given the marvellous views they had. And now... off to pick some fern leaves :-)

When our children were small, we went camping with them on the banks of the Dordogne. Never got up to Thonac, though. It’s a beautiful area, in any case.
