Kuching

Our days in Kuching

sarawak river and sampans
We stayed at Kuching for a few days at the Holiday Inn, right on the

riverfront. A lovely Hotel which had interesting views from our riverside

window.

Kuching has a lovely riverfront esplanade, for day and nights, a nice walk.

Sampans go to and fro across the river, only $1.
The Astana
On the other side of the River is Fort Margaretha. This closes at 4.30 in the

afternoon. The Palace is on the other side too.

Its easy to walk around the city. We walked down a Mall full of shops,

good cheap shopping here with plenty of choice.
Street in Kuching
We did day trips out from Kuching.
Bako National Park was an excellent tour, it had a meal included which
wasn't the best.

Sarawak cultural village, a must see, very well done. You walk around and see the different tribal huts and their traditions, they also do a short dance performance. After doing the loop, go and see the show, its fantastic.

Pitcher plant & Fairy and Wind Caves. Wind cave wasn't worth seeing, pitch black, so you need to take a torch. Fairy cave, was fantastic, colossal, much better than Batu caves in kuala lumpur, well worth the visit.
Sunset cruise on the Sarawak river was a nice way to see the sights from the river and to relax.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Kuching.
