"KNOWN AS THE PEARL OF THE ALPS"

This lovely Town is set in a beautiful mountain setting near Berchtesgaden in Bavaria.

Bad Reichenhall has 150 years of being a Health spa, with treatments that have proved hugely successful in alleviating respiratory illnesses.

Salt from prehistoric oceans is hidden inside the Bavarian Alps and has been mined from underground springs in the area for centuries.

Salt, in this area became known as "white gold" as it was paid for with gold and brought wealth and fame to the region.

The town, which had about 1,800 saltwater baths, was destroyed by fire in 1834, but rebuilt.

King Maximilian II of Bavaria visited to soak in the waters and made the town his summer resort, enhancing its reputation as an elegant spa with high society.

The natural secrets of its success are saltwater, mud and a stimulating climate.

As an alpine saltwater mineral spa, it has become popular for a relaxing break.

The salt that is used for your health here, is also used in most German kitchen's.

There is more than one spa facility here, which include doctors and clinics.

The resort is ideal for patients with respiratory conditions, although it is also perfect for those suffering from musculo-skeletal problems, skin complaints, allergies, or simply too much stress.

I think I should have stayed there longer to find out if my Asthma improved!

Hi Dee, Lin had a chest infection when we went to Bad Reichenhall and sitting in the salt inhalator really made things better and cleared it up. I see you were polite over the name of the chocolates, which are delicious. Alan

I’m glad you went over and investigated that Gradierhaus and breathed in some of the salty air. There is another one in Bad Orb:

Dee, this page brought back so many memories. We did the salt miners's tour, especially the kids loved it. And the Mozartkugeln - simply too delicious. I can understand why you were sort of glad when the store was closed.
