Getting TO/AROUND: Bankok has one of the major airports in Souteastern Asia. The problem is not getting there, but how to avoid having a transit there if your destination is elewhere!

Take a bus or a minibus to Khao San Road.

If you have prebooked a hotel they'll usually arrange the transport from the airport.
I prefer to walk around in case I happen to discover something interesting. Otherwise moving around in Bankok is done by tuk-tuk or taxi, except for during the rush hours when the drivers refuse to take passengers.

Tuk-tuks are very charming, but because of the low roofs you don't have any view at all. When the air pollution is bad you might regret not chosing a taxi after all.

When dealing with taxi drivers always insist they use the taxametre (it says on their roof if they have one), this way you won't be tricked.
