Restaurant Name: Rostipollos

Chain of Costa Rican restaurants where you can try roasted chicken with either salads or several typical Central American complements like:
- patacones (fried smashed bananas)
- dados de queso (cheese squares)
- tortillas de maíz (corn pancakes)
- fajitas
- elotes (baked corn)
- frijolitos molidos (smashed red beans)
There are also a selection of desserts. As for the service, it is cool and the prices are reasonable, a good meal with drink and dessert went around US$6-10 per person.

Favorite Dish: The dessert "tres leches" (three milks), which is a cake made of condensated milk, evaporated milk and cream of milk. I loved it because not only am I fond of sweets and desserts, but it also brings me back memories of the conversations with my pals, around this cake and a cup of coffee.

Restaurant Name: Automercado

For backpackers and people with tight budgets, this is the option. Automercado's prices are less expensive than average, and you could find anything you want: fresh vegetables, fruits, meats, milky products, seafood, wine, and all the stuff you find in a supermarket.
I went to the Automercado at Multiplaza Mall, but you can find AutoMercados at:
- Plaza del Sol (in Plaza del Sol Mall)
- Los Yoses (next to Mall San Pedro)
- Centro (around Parque Morazán)
- Plaza Mayor (in Plaza Mayor Mall)
- Multiplaza (Multiplaza Mall)
- Tibas-Moravia (400 m. west Colegio Lincoln)
- Heredia (north of police station, autoroute to Barva)

Favorite Dish: What you cannot miss here is buying coffee. My favorite coffee-related product was Britt's grains of coffee covered by chocolate. It was delicious, but please don't eat them at night, because your tireness may be gone :-)

Restaurant Name: Machu Picchu Restaurant

As a Peruvian, it was a great surpise to find such a nice Peruvian restaurant in San José! Located in downtown, this place, decorated with typical Peruvian pictures and rugs, offers you a variety of dishes from my country, although made with Costa Rican ingredients and season.

Favorite Dish: I would recommed you:
- as an aperitive, the pisco sour (our national drink made of pisco and lemon, but try just half cup, please, because it reaches to your head really fast),
- as for the dishes, you can choose among cebiche (fish marinated with lemon juice), pescado a la chorrillana (fish with a special onion salad), arroz chaufa (special Chinese-Peruvian dish with rice and chicken cooked alltogether with soya sauce), and chicken flamboyed with red wine, among others.
