MALARRIMO/Cabanas Don Miguelito RV Park: The TRADITION in the Middle of the Peninsula
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • In addition to the comfortable motel rooms (which were added to the restaurant site about 20 years ago) set in colorful gardens with reconstructed whale bones (see photo), there is also an RV park.
Each room has bathroom, soap and shampoo, color TV, coffee/tea making facilities, bottled water and free wireless internet service. The queen beds are comfortable and the rooms have recently been renovated.

Most of the staff speaks good English in addition to Spanish.

There are 45 RV spaces, with water, sewage, 110v electric hookups, tent area. Pets are allowed on leash; toilet and shower faciities.

There is a DELI, GIFT SHOP and agency for booking WHALE-WATCHING TOURS on site.

Unique Qualities: This is THE gathering place for people transitting the Baja Peninsula, being just about half way between the northern border and Cabo San Lucas in the south. Besides those who come for the whale-watching tours, many other travelers stop and stay and swap road information and Baja stories. It is used as a meeting place by many RVers as well as we who drive our SUVs.

LOS CARACOLES: UNIQUE, UP-SCALE FOR THE AREA
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • WE STAYED ONE NIGHT ON THE DRIVE UP THE PENINSULA AND LIKED IT SO MUCH WE STAYED AGAIN ON THE DRIVE BACK HOME.
They have Double, Queen and even a 'Junior King Suite', with varying prices. Both times, we stayed in the Jr. King Suite. The room was nicely decorated (unusual for the area), with a wonderful bed with made-to-order bed covers and matching towels.
Very comfortable and a nice-sized room, as well as a small sitting room with large sofa and additional TV. Good size bathroom, nicely tiled.
Best of all, it had an air-conditioner that also produces HEAT, and as it was really cold when we were there, it was a great find!! I know of no other small motels in any part of the Baja Peninsula with heating.

In the reception area, they provided coffee, computers, and lots of whale-watching info and tours.
They also accepted several credit cards and many places do not.

Unique Qualities: Having either air cooling or heating as needed is a plus.

    Secure parking.

During whale-watching season, (Jan-Mar) I would strongly advise having reservations, as the area gets booked out early with groups.
