WE STAYED A WEEK IN A TIMESHARE EXCHANGE WHICH WAS UP IN THE HILLS (San Felipe de Agua), easily accessible to the city by taxi or bus.
There seemed to be a dearth of tourists, probably still from the civil strife of a year+ ago, and therefore, the vendors were probably a little more insistent, but otherwise, the city is very comfortable, friendly, easy-going--DELIGHTFUL!!
Definitely a week is not too long to spend here; as browsing the mercados, taking the tours to nearby archeological, historical sites, some museums and lounging in the zocalo are all 'MUSTS'.

This sounds like a fascinating area, especially the archeological and historical sites!
I was in this area some years ago-35 years-and loved the scenery and wonderful weather. Nice work of the beloved place.
I tasted Mole in Cambodia (believe it or not...) and loved it.....can't wait to try the real thing in Mexico!
great tips Trish!
I think I may have been here before but it is great information
Great page, Trish. Love the tip about Sacred ruins of MITLA. Good photos too.
Like the look of those knitted bags Trish, nice being able to wash them and keep them looking like new. As you said " a great gift idea!"
Would love to see more of your visit to this great place.
