A PLEASANT CITY IN WHICH TO WALK

We were at the end of our trip and only had one full day and 2 nights here on a weekend.

As I had worked with FRANK GEHRY, the architect of the GUGGENHEIM, back in the early 1960's, I had always wanted to come see this museum--and we were not disappointed!!

Fortunately, I had booked a hotel which was very comfortable and close, being just across the river, within sight of the museum, so we didn't have to waste any time getting to and from.

We were able to sufficiently cover the parts of the modern art which interested us to have the afternoon available for walking to the older section of the city and found it easy and very interesting, as we came across children playing soccer in pockets of squares where their parents were having drinks with friends and watching a soccer match, etc. There was a major match being played that weekend, and so a lot of banners for the local team displayed outside doors and windows.

Being a Sunday, unfortunately all the shops were closed, but that was probably a good thing for the 'pocketbook', after an expensive 5 weeks!

Enjoyed this litle peak into Bilbao. It looks a very clean place ....... the ladies toilets are certainly something!
