Brig's main attraction for visitors and their cameras is Stockalper Palace. Who would have expected a renaissance-baroque palace of such magnificence in a small town in the middle of the Alps?

The first photo is an early morning view, taken from the balcony of my hotel room. The first rays of sunlight are crawling over the mountains and awakening Belalp high up while the Rhône valley is still dark and shady. According to the weather forecast heavy rain clouds were pressed against the mountains of Berner Oberland from Northwest but did not make it over the peaks. The Valais was to expect a fine sunny day.

Here you see the three towers of the palace, bathing in glorious sunshine. For once the weather forecast was right.

In the evening the palace is illuminated and provides lots of photo options during the blue hour. This is a view over the palace gardens which is conveniently surrounded by a wall, no need to carry a tripod. The white gable on the hill on the right belongs to the Jesuite church.

Excellent page again. Very beautiful pictures, especially the TL "Blue Hour." The tiles in the bathroom of your hotel room speak volumes LOL But the view is not to beat.
