"Restful Weekend After Our Daughter's Wedding" Fontana by riorich55

Close Enough to Home but in a Different World

Geneva Lake, Wisconsin is just across the Illinois border in Wisconsin and about 90 minutes from where we live on a good traffic day. Most people are familiar with the very touristy city on the eastern side of the lake called Lake Geneva, Wisconsin and often mistakenly call the actual lake, Lake Geneva. But on the western edge are the 2 very small villages of Williams Bay and Fontana which is sometimes also called Fontana-by-the-Lake.

Anyway, the weekend after our daughter got married we ventured up north from Naperville to spend a 3 day weekend in this very scenic and serene area.

The first photo you see below was taken early Sunday morning when both Sue and I couldn't sleep anymore. Since I knew we could get some great morning sunrise shots we headed a little over a mile down the winding road from the B & B where we were staying a got a couple of great shots.

Mum's the Word

There is a fairly large resort right near the water where the picture below was taken called The Abbey. Again people associate everything around here as Lake Geneva without realizing they are actually in another small village nearby. The area is a golfer's haven with a number of very nice golf courses some of which have been designed by Arnold Palmer, Gary Player and Lee Trevino.
