Donna_in_India and riorich55 in Fargo

By chance both Donna and I were in Fargo on Labor Day, 2010. Me for the start of a business trip and Donna, her husband and daughter as a night stay on their vacation. We enjoyed a nice evening dinner on a very rainy night in Fargo and had our server snap this picture of the inaugural VT Fargo evet.

Hhhooowww Cccccoooollllldddd Does It Get?

Had to chuckle when I saw the temperature being displayed on the Fargo Civic Center sign on a nice almost 70 degree day in September, 2010. If you look closely the temperature indicates a brisk -196 degrees Fahrenheit. This is even a little too cold for Fargo in the winter. Temperatures with wind chills can get as low as -70 on some nights but that is still a little warmer then -196. Maybe on Fargo's outpost on the moon, but on Terra Firma it doesn't get that cold.

A Whole Lotta Construction Goin On

To paraphrase an old Elvis Presley song, "There's a whole lotta construction goin' on in Fargo. Virtually untouched by the current recession, every time I've come back into town over the last 5 years, there are some new buildings somewhere. Along with this the population has been growing at a good steady pace. A number of new roads, an increase in the size of the airport, golf courses, etc.

When it is nice here, like it was on my most recent business trip, the town is very nice. It does get hot here in the summer and obviously very cold in the winter. There are little if any trees out on the plaines to the west of the city so when the weather comes roaring in from the west there is nothing to slow it down.

Really interesting to hear about these less visited locations. I like the personal commentaries in your tips - so much more entertaining then just a string of facts.
