"A week in Pinoyland" Philippines by teevee

Too short...

Firstly, 7 days in Philippines is really not enough. What a quick trip for the amount of things to see and do! If you have more time, at least 10 days would be more respectable. LOL. So the week was filled with travels to Banaue, Sagada and Manila. 2 nights each. What was so nice was i got to meet some VTers Pres and Aida...guess their nicknames! Also, the many warm and friendly locals who are now my friends that I met along the way...it made all the difference!

And while i wore touristic T-Shirts with a backpack....I cannot believe how Filipino I look (Pinoy) (still in denial) from the many people who open a conversation in Tagalog. At the museums, churches, on the streets, 7-Eleven and....at my most favourite most missed restaurant...Wendy's!!!!

Lotsa things I have to come back for like a real walk along Manila Bay or Baywalk. A decent visit to the Malate Cathedral which we passed numerous of times and the first church we encountered but never went in. So ironic! A good meal at a nice restaurant in Manila, enjoy the talented live bands at the pubs...it was quite tiring at the end of the day what with coming from the cold/cool weather of Sagada and Banaue. To know the history of this country more in detail. Then there's also places like the lovely islands south of Luzon and around it, swimming with the dolphines, hiking to a volconoe and a trip to Vigan would be something I would have liked to have fitted in.

To all who wish to visit this country, it's definitely more than just Manila, it's worth the long bus/road journeys!

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:Diverse things to do from the cool highlands,to the beaches, coral reefs, volcanoes, historic sites & architecture
  • Cons:Dispersed so it takes time to go from one place to another.Be careful when in Manila-typical city where there is crime & con jobs, taxi drivers might accuse you of scratching the car
  • In a nutshell:It's much, much more than just Manila, reefs and rice terraces!

It was quite funny that people thought you were a Filipina! :) Indonesians, Pinoys, Malaysians, and Thais look quite alike don't we? Mabuhay!
