Moganshan Family Biking Hiking Weekend

“Join BOHDI for an amazing, and we use that word lightly, 2 day escape from Shanghai. Welcom the summer the only way it ... ”

Route Description:

Back again by popular demand BOHDI once again loads up the vans and hits the trails with another excitingly beautiful trip to the pristine and scenic Moganshan Mountain. A perfect ride awaits those who join us on this relaxing trip at this picturesque reserve located only 3.5 hours from down Shanghai.

Starting early in the morning we hit the trail with a great cruise down the mountain and into the valley below. We will head off on a large and peaceful loop around one of the local reservoirs nestled in the valley. After this long and peaceful loop we head north through the valley passing farms, villages and rolling scenery making another loop as we pass the small town of Moganshan and many other quaint farming villages that dot the valley before stopping at the base of the mountain. For those that want we will load up there but for those with a desire to climb you will have the opportunity to climb a killer hill (8km) back to the top of the mountain and a much awaited shower.

HIKE Day 1:

Arrive at Moganshan and have a 3 hour scenic hike through tea fields, bamboo forests and old ruins from the past of Moganshan (Average Physical fitness required)

BIKE Day 2:

Start the morning with BACON and EGGS and head out for a 40km bike RIDE---WE will split into 2 groups if enough people sign up (FAST and Take it easy). We end the Ride with a SWIM in a clean and cool Mountain reservoir

OVERNGIHT HIKING(ONLY)AT MOGANSHAN

Route Description:

If the Shanghai summer watermelons aren’t sweet enough for you, the folks at BOHDI are bringing you a sweet Moganshan summer hiking trip to ruin your teeth.

We get an early start on Saturday at 7am, getting to the foot of Moganshan Mountain in time for an early lunch. The hike up from town will lead you through mysterious bamboo forests and over lush, green tea fields. Along the way, a stop in Sweetville, affectionately named for its awesome inhabitants and luscious rice paddies, will offer a glimpse into Chinese village life at its best. At the end of the hike, we shower and relax before a Chinese-style dinner. Bodhi will fire up the barbeque in the evening for a good old fashioned campfire with s’mores.

The next morning, we role out after breakfast for an exhilarating uphill hike, followed by a long and lovely downhill hike into the valley. We stop at the local temple for a demonstration of home-made tea-frying by Monk Qianjing, and sipping of the local harvest in the courtyard. Refreshed, we head uphill to the hotel for a quick lunch and shower, and get back to Shanghai by the early evening.

Things to bring:

Water, PJ's, small backpack that you can hike with, sweet tooth, sturdy shoes, sun glasses, sun block lotion, energy complement, sense of adventure, and a good attitude

Things NOT to bring:

Canadian bacon, roller blades, expensive orthodontic work
