| | Biking at Sheshan---In search of the Lost Ark Friday, Nov. 30th, 2007
Route Description: Join us and we load up our bikes, get into our vans and escape the confines of Shanghai! We will drive for about 30min to the nearby and historic Sheshan Mountain…a local set of small mountains with one of them topped with a turn of the century Church and observatory! The ride starts with a cruise around the base of Mount Sheshan. We will pass villas, communities and a taste of what this area is looking to become before working are way to the north with the Church hanging in the back ground as we enter some of the small villages, cement roads and small off road tracks that connect this green area. The ride passes fields of vegetables, small canals and constructed rural huts that show a stark contrast from the villas but a couple kms away. The ride finished with a cruise past the new metro line and back towards the mountain where groups will have the option to enter into the Sheshan park and see the Church (30rmb entrance fee)!! Things to Bring: Water, sun glasses, a whip, sun block lotion, energy complement, sense of adventure and a good attitude Things NOT to bring: Out of tune guitar, an Organ (already supplied by the church), Peruvian dollars, a medallion with only one side |
| | Biking at Chongming Island---Canals, villages Sunday, Dec. 2nd, 2007
Route Description: Departing at 7pm by van to Chongming Island, we will base ourselves for some on and off road biking around the lake and in the surrounding villages for 4 - 5 hours and return the next day at 6pm. This ride is ideal for cruisers, beginners or any level that wants to kick back and get out of the city for some social fun.
We start the day near the locally famous yet strangely named Jungle Forest Park located in the center of this mammoth island (3rd largest in China) and begin what will be a lovely day of relaxing and scenic riding that will carry us through small quaint villages, expansive and fragrant farm lands before finally working our way to sea side ride that coast along a flowing and twisting road hugging the south of the island. We end the day in the port town of Nanmen where we will snarf down a well earned lunched and jump back on the ferry for the ride back home!! Things to Bring: Water, a finite knowledge of Neo-geometry, sun glasses, sun block lotion, energy complement, sense of adventure and a good attitude Things NOT to bring: Your Fender Stratocaster, bootlegged copies of Waynes World, toothless dentures |
