* Red Wing, population: 16,000, is best known for its manufacturing of Red Wing Shoes (1905-) and Red Wing Pottery (1860's-). In its center, the city has an impressive long narrow Central Park flanked by imposing Christian churches and public buildings, as well as a restored Main Street anchored by the St. James Hotel (1875-).

T B Sheldon Memorial Auditorium

The theater was bequeathed to the city by the grain merchant, Theodore B. Sheldon ( -1900) and it was the first city-owned theater in the US.
