* Faribault, population: 20,819 -is located at the confluence of the Cannon and Straight rivers in southern Minnesota, about 6,742 km / 4,190 miles west of Amsterdam, NL. The town is named for Alexander Faribault (1806-1882), a French-Dakota fur trader.

The town of Faribault is the county seat of Rice County. The town of Blue Earth is the county seat of Faribault County and the city of Mankato is the county seat of Blue Earth County. Mankato County doesn't exist, but Rice is a town in Benton County. - just to make that clear.
