located at the Binnenhof and currently used by the Dutch Monarch every September for the ceremonial opening of the Netherlands Parliament. Constructed in the 13th century by Count Floris V (1254-1296) for the meetings of the Knights of the Order of the Golden Fleece.

- North End Palace

One of four Netherlands royal palaces. It began in 1533 as a country house, expanded to become Oud Hof in 1609 and became the royal winter palace in 1817. It was destroyed by fire in 1948 and rebuilt in 1984 as the 'working palace' of Queen Beatrix Wilhelmina Armgard (1938-).
