Église Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption

- Church of Our Lady of the Assumption made famous by Van Gogh paintings

* Auvers-Sur-Oise, population: 6,900, a subject of impressionist painters Paul Cézanne (1839-1906), Charles-François Daubigny (1817-1878), Camille Pissarro (1830-1903), Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot (1796-1875) and Vincent Van Gogh who is buried here.
About 40 minutes by train from Paris Gare du Nord.

Van Gogh graves

- the modest headstones of Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) and his brother, Theodore van Gogh (1857-1891). Vincent killed himself in a nearby wheat field by shooting himself in the stomach and Theodore died six months later in Den Dolder, NL from dementia paralytica usually caused by syphilis. In 1914 Theodore was interred next to his brother Vincent in Auvers-sur-Oise.
