I stayed on this very nice island for two weeks it was voluntary work camp. I really enjoyed this place a lot! I had chance to meet a lot of locals, few customs here. Eight of us, explored pretty much all the island! It is hard to say prices, some of them i dont remember. Something’s we did for free... it will be great experience for you .... i am very sure in it :)
The island is beautiful! But you have to be quite imaginative to really enjoy it. Because there is no many things made for tourists here. So you have to know what do you want to do! But also it is great place for chilling out. You can relax here a lot. If you prefer not crowded places, no tourists and having great time with friends, family and partner or alone - this is cool destination for you. Here people trust a lot to each other. In past, i think, they all lived like commune. So you maybe still can feel some spirit of this. Anyway, people here have pretty much difficult life and they also had hard history. So you have to respect all those facts. Also you should be aware they are all pretty much cut from mainland. But when you get to know those people they are really extremely warm, friendly and as most important really helpful.
I was there in June, there were only two shops opened! :) They had some main supplies! They have a quite big choice of food - if you have some usual demands. In one of those shops - there is a computer, which you can use for internet, for free :)
Also there were only one pub opened - Hullo Trahter. It was open until midnight or maybe even 01:). You can buy some drinks inside and after closing time sit and drink them in front of the bar.
There is a post office so you can send your postcards. There are only two kinds of postcards - very old school ones :)
There is no public phone, but maybe you can ask in post! Try!
- Pros:Very relaxing place, people, nature
- Cons:2 shops, 1 internet, 1 pub :)
- In a nutshell:Lifeful and colorful island
