This is the life

I always have fun

Now this is a small snow town that comes alive during the winter. My first trip there was in the beginning of the season when the lifts where not open. So we spent most of our time walking around the city, everything was open but there was no one in town. So now that we are not able to go snowboarding we have to find other ways to entertain ourselves.

We took a trip to the top of the mountain, Zugspitze, and looked around. This is the glacier at the top. After that we walked around town and looked through some shops and found some pretty good places to eat. There was a nice Italian restaurant across the street from our hotel that had some of the best food I have had. The Hotel was down the street from the train station, walk out and go to your left, and the restaurant can be found behind the hotel (walk out the back door and cross the street).

The nightlife is not so bad if you are there during the actual snow season, but there has not been a time that I have gone here and not had fun. The last time I went I stayed at the Edelweiss (military hotel), witch is probable the nicest hotel there (I am pretty sure you have to be in the military or have a service member there with you). Sorry got a little side tracked, but Peaches is the main bar in the area, this is where I find the most people, but scattered around the area you will find a lot of other small places that have different deals throughout the week (Euro shots, buy one get one free).

Overall, this place is pretty easy to get to and is a lot of fun. If you are in Germany during the winter I suggest you make it down to here. Munich is right up the road (30/45 minutes), so take a little road trip and check it out.

Peaches

Now this is the place to go when you are in town. It is not for everyone, I would have to say I am not one of the people that fit in at this place, but Peaches is the only bar that you are going to find people at, all the time. The crowd is mainly older people, in their 30’s, but you will find some of the younger people there. Around the back is a small disco that has only been open 1 of the times I have been to Garmisch, I don’t know who runs it but I had a lot of fun there that one time.

As for the bar itself, it is pretty laid back good place to meet people. Music is not too loud so you are able to hold conversations with people in your area. Also this bar offers the monster zombie. This is a big drink offered in a large bucket with lots of straws. More of a drink for people in larger groups; or if you are as adventures as me and my friend they make a good drink for yourself. I don’t suggest this, I would let you know how the rest of our night went but I am not to sure. I know we ended up leaving this bar and finding some other smaller clubs. At the end of the night my buddy was found passed out in the bathroom, not a nice looking bathroom either, and later I found him sleeping on a park bench while I was stumbling back to the hotel.

This is a place that I recommend, and I go there on every trip. Have fun, and enjoy.

SnowBoard camp weekend

Well this was one of the best weekends I have had in Garmisch. This was a board camp that was put on in the summer time at the Zugspitze. Pretty much they had the board park open for a couple of weeks, and thousands of people came out to ride. The whole thing was pretty organized; they had flyers that listed what bar people should go to for the night so that everyone would be in the same place. It was pretty hard to get hotel rooms because of the number of people and we had to sleep in the car the first night.

All in all it was a great weekend, good weather and lots of fun, I think. I have some foggy memories about a lot of it. I think they have this board park open each year around the same time, and the next following weeks there are camps that take place in Austria. So if you are in Germany in the summer look into it and you might be able to get some riding in while you are there.
