Ayutthaya is a UNESCO Heritage site with many fine ruins of Thailand's previous capital. It was said that King Taksin the Great was so saddened by the thorough destruction of the city at the hands of the Burmese that it was not worth rebuilding the ruined city - hence the founding of the Kingdom of Thonburi on the left bank on the lower reaches of the Chao Phraya River.
A trip to Thailand is never complete without a trip to Ayutthaya. |
