I moved to Boston after graduating from college, the opposite of most people that end up here. I felt at home right away, loving the history of the city, the variety of activities available, and yes, even the seasons. I've made tremendous friends, have had many, many great times, and plan to continue the life of a modern woman in the new millenium. |

My first visit to Boston was in 1985, when I came with 4 friends for Spring Break, to stay with my brother, who had moved here that January. We got in late, went to the Faneuil Hall area to a Mexican restaurant, and then after many Slow Trains (lots of rum, etc) we hit the streets. I was hooked. The next day, we walked over to Newbury St. (my brother lived about 3 blocks away) and on the first block, someone stopped me and asked where the Prudential Center was. I pointed and said "Turn around and go a couple of blocks and turn right". My brother was shocked and asked how I knew that, and I had no answer for it. I just knew I had found my home. Two months later, I graduated from college and moved here, with my dear friend, Dena. After our trip we both agreed that this was the place to go. Sadly, she only stayed about 3 years, and regrets leaving to this day. In May I celebrate 19 years in Boston. Almost half my life, and I've been in the same apartment for 15 years, longer than anywhere else I've ever lived. And until some job appears in my lap to move to Europe, here I stay. |
A warm welcome Another thing I love about Boston is being able to share it with people from around the world. It is a beautiful place, I think especially in the snow, and offers great sights, restaurants, and a nightlife that would please everyone. |
