Weekends in Washington

Our nation's capitol is both famous and infamous, being the seat of our democracy for more than 200 years, with many scandals, protests, and wrongdoing along the way.

But enough about what's wrong with this city. We hear that ad nauseum from the media. This city has so many wonderful things to offer visitors, which I would like to share.
The Lincoln Memorial
I've been to Washington several times, from high school daytrips, to a protest during college in 1981, and on long weekends to see art exhibitions.

The city's museums are endless and amazing, and most are free to the public. Washington has gone through many changes over the years, and is now a clean and vibrant city, with much to do and see.

It is often overlooked as a destination for tourists, because of its government association, I think, but will rival any city for its museums, nightlife, theater, and beauty.

Your tip on the East wing of the Nat'l Gallery of Art brought back some great memories for me in vivid detail! Nice travelogues, too.

I've lived here so long it's good to get a tip on where to send people to stay near Dupont Circle. GREAT location!

I would love to visit and see some works by Klee and Kandinsky. A trip is in the works! Very helpful page.

Great job on an amazing place. Haven't been in awhile but now it seems to close and too interesting to stay away. Thanks.
