Overnight Stay - Wish it was Longer

We were traveling as a group (wife, kids, sister-in-law, parents) from Guayaquil to Quito in a rented van. Decided to pass up on Riobamba for an overnight stay and pushed on to Ambato. Truly, this town is a great place to spend a few days and explore out. Top of the list items here, great shopping for shoes, sweaters and some cloths. Mineral baths outside of town, enjoyable cafe nightlife. This town was a colonial city on par with Cuenca but was destroyed after WWII by a massive earthquake. But the views are awsome and several volcanos are close by. Worth an overnight stay on your way to Banos.

Sounds like you found a good place to stay at. I only visited over the day from Latacunga, visited some museums, markets and the cathedral.
