Florence still is the Renaissance capitol of the world. Literally crammed with famous works of art and architecture, one cannot walk a city block without running into a significant piece of history. The Florentines were prolific and passionate, and it shows everywhere you go. For art lovers, it is a must. I spent my five days with a heavy itinerary of churches, museums, and food. I was going to eat, sleep and breathe Firenze. And so I did. My absolute favorite parts of Florence (besides the Trattorias) were the churches, each with it's own unique qualities and histories. Many magnificent pieces of artwork are still housed in the churches of Florence. |
