Ottawa is Canada's capital city, although it is not the biggest nor the most cosmopolitan city in Canada. It stands by the Ottawa river in the English province of Ontario.
On the other side of the river, in the French-Canadian province of Quebec, stands the city of Gatineau. The population of Ottawa is ca 812.000 but combined with Gatineau the population is ca 1.130.000.
I've been there four times and have friends there with whom I stay while visiting. I have totally fallen in love with this city now.
The Parliament building stands like a fairytale castle in the middle of the city.
There is a market area in down-town Ottawa which is buzzing with life especially during the weekends. My favourite part of the city :)

Very interesting and informative tips on Ottawa. I never knew the Netherlands sent so many tulip bulbs to Ottawa every year for their tulip festival. In our family we are all fans of maple syrup and always have some on hand. It is readily available in German stores now, so we no longer have to ask visitors to bring it over from Canada.
The parliment building is massive. I had no idea. It is very beautiful. The war memorials, parks, museums, and maple syrup all sounds like something I would love to explore. Nice page!
What a perfect view of the parliament hill at Nepean point. I will include this on my itinerary.

Nice tips, Regina! I had the same reaction when I walked into the cathedral, I didn't expect it to be so beautiful inside. Oh, and did you know the natural history museum is supposed to be haunted?!
Fantastic opening photo! The spider looks a bit scary! You will have to head to australia seeing you love nature, have plenty of it here.
The tulip photo is terrific Regina..every year its hit and miss with them,the consistent factor is the crowds and its difficult to get good photos! It was certainly good fun to connect. Perhaps another time in Iceland!
Yes, Ottawa is beautiful, but far away from Saskatoon and Regina. I hope that one day you will come to Saskatoon and we will have a small VT meeting.
